A New Tech Manifesto

A New Tech Manifesto Six demands, from a citizen to Big Tech (medium.com)
First draft proposal from Baratunde Thurston for restoring some balance and trust between the tech companies that are shaping the future and we the people.

  1. Offer Real Transparency Around Data Collection and Usage
  2. Change Data Defaults from Open to Closed
  3. Respect Our Right to Our Own Data
  4. Diversify Who’s At the Table
  5. Implement New Laws and New Rules
  6. Enable Users to Collect and Analyze Our Own Data

Want to contribute more? Thurston concludes:

Imagine it. Now let’s go build it.

(Yes, I’m aware of the irony of asking you to give Google more data in service of reclaiming our data from companies like Google. What can I say? I’m an artist.)
