Digitally Literate is a newsletter with a connected notebook growing around
it. You can read it as a weekly publication, follow an idea across years of
issues, or use the public notes as guides into a subject.

If you want to follow an idea
The public notebook uses three kinds of pages:
- Evergreens are focused explainers about one durable concept. They may be
revised as the subject or my understanding changes. - Groves are curated paths through a subject. I build them by hand to
connect explainers, newsletter issues, questions, and useful sources. - Forests are comprehensive indexes. They show everything published on the
site that belongs to a broad topic, without claiming that every item forms a
single argument.
A Grove offers a route. A Forest shows the territory.
This part of the site is just beginning. Some links may lead back into the
newsletter archive until the corresponding public note has been written.
What is not public
Digitally Literate is published from a much larger private Obsidian vault. The
site is not a mirror of that vault. Reading notes, drafts, project materials,
and most working files stay private unless I deliberately prepare them for
publication here.
That boundary lets the public site remain useful and coherent while still
allowing ideas to emerge from a wider body of research.
