Digitally Literate is written in Obsidian and published from a deliberately
selected part of Ian O'Byrne's private research vault.
The site uses the Obsidian Digital Garden publishing system. Its public repository is built with Eleventy and hosted on Netlify. Newsletter delivery is handled through Substack.
What gets published
Publication is opt-in. A note appears here only when it has been marked for the garden and prepared for a public reader. The rest of the vault—including raw sources, private notes, drafts, and project materials—remains private.
The public collection has two connected layers:
- the complete newsletter archive
- a growing set of Evergreens, Groves, Forests, and site pages
This separation is intentional. The site can show how ideas develop without
turning the whole working vault into a public file browser.
A living site
The design and public knowledge layer will continue to change. Evergreen notes may be revised, Groves may gain new paths, and Forests may expand as new work is published. Newsletter issues remain dated records of what I wrote at a particular moment.
