Explain Like I'm 5
Think of social media activity like playing with your friends. You can talk to them, share toys with them, or copy what they are doing. On social media, people do similar things like posting their thoughts, talking to others, and sharing funny pictures.

Digging Deeper
Social media activity is a way to measure how active and engaged users are on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more. By analyzing the types of posts users make – whether they are original tweets, @mentions of other users, or retweets – we can understand their participation style and level of engagement with the platform. For example, someone who mostly retweets is likely more focused on sharing others' content rather than creating their own.
Posts in social media datasets will usually have a user linked as the author. This makes it possible for us to count how often a given user has posted and to compare this across the entire userbase. This tells us something about the most active participants.
